Twin Rivers Drive - US Highway 61 Industrial Bypass |

Project Description:
Approximately 5,000 feet of industrial roadway to connect the Keokuk Industrial area to US Highway 61 and 136, including 2 lane curbed street with 565' of 8' diameter concrete pipe and 306' long curved steel girder viaduct over RR.
The Twin Rivers Drive pavement was constructed with 10" thick non-reinforced PCC pavement. The pavement was constructed on a 12" granular sub-base with longitudal subdrains tied to stormwater intakes. The vertical and horizontal alignment of the pavement was designed to withstand heavy truck traffic.

The bridge structure spanning two railroad tracks, supports a 306' x 28' PCC deck. The overall structure is supported by four 3-span continuous curved steel girders, concrete stub abutments and T-piers with steel pipe foundation to bedrock. The lower photo shows the steel-cased 10" watermain which was designed and supported under the ridge rail along the east girder. |
