Dear Resident:

Please be advised that the Perry Court / Brookside Drive / Meadow Street intersection has been completed and that rerouting of traffic from Catskill Court should occur this Thursday, September15, 2005, weather permitting . The rerouting will require residents of the Catskill Court area to enter / exit their neighborhood utilizing Perry Court north to Brookside Drive. Meadow Street will remain closed except for pedestrian school access.

Shortly following the rerouting of traffic on Perry Court, storm sewer will be extended across Perry Court, and construction will continue behind the west side of the Dover Street homes to complete the storm sewer improvements. As part of the construction process, trees will be removed or trimmed as marked out earlier this summer. I encourage residents to remove any items from the construction area they wish to salvage.

If you have any questions, please contact Jim Leighton (Project Inspector) at (319) 351-7150.

Sincerely,

SHOEMAKER & HAALAND PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS

Dear Resident:

The restoration of the Meadow Street paving and sidewalks is underway, following substantial completion of the new bridge over Ralson Creek.

This week work will include constructing access for Elementary school year. Please note that commencing Monday August 22nd and continuing through completion of construction, the Contractor will provide a clearly marked walkway though the project area from Friendship Street to Brookside Drive. The walkway is intended for student access across the site. We encourage families with children utilizing this route to understand that this is a construction area and consequently loitering in the area will not be allowed for their safety.

There may be periods of time during the workday when the Contractor will interrupt the use of the walkway, but not during the usual commute times to and from school.

Subsequent newsletters and web site updates will keep neighbors informed prior to rerouting traffic from the Catskill Court / Perry Court intersection and construction behind homes along the west side of Dover Street.

Thank you,

Bob Bang, P.E.

Dear Neighbors

As most of you are aware, the Meadow Street Bridge is being replaced this season due to deterioration of the structure. Along with the bridge replacement a new storm sewer system will be installed up to and within the storm water detention facility which is located behind the residences on Dover Street.

The project work zone affects three neighborhood areas - Meadow Street, Catskill Court and the Dover Street drainage basin. The following are tentative schedule notes for the work zone:

Meadow Street Area
Trees marked for removal by May 27
Construction limits marked by May 27
Estimated Meadow Street closure to vehicular traffic and beginning of construction - May 31
Estimated Meadow Street sidewalk closure - June 8

Meadow Street from Friendship Street to Brookside Drive will be closed for the majority of the season. Arrangements will be made for those homes directly affected within the closure area.

Sufficient construction shall be completed on the bridge which will allow pedestrian access across Ralston Creek during the day once school starts this fall.

Catskill Court Area
Estimated Meadow Street closure - May 31

Access will be maintained at all times in and out of the neighborhood. During construction along Perry Court, traffic will be directed either north or south at the Perry Court/Catskill Court intersection during installation of utilities under the street.

Dover Street Drainage Basin
Trees marked for removal - May 27
Estimated storm sewer installation begins June 13

Construction will include the installation of new storm sewer piping and inlet structures to drain the detention basin located in the rear yards along Dover Street. This work will require removal and trimming of some trees.

Landscape items (plants, yard ornaments, patio blocks, etc.) located within the marked construction limits will need to be removed prior to the beginning of construction, if the residences wish to save these items.

The dates noted above are based on the Contractor’s estimated schedule and may vary due to weather conditions and construction progress.

In the future, project updates will be available on the internet at www.shoemaker-haaland.com. Paper copies will also be mailed.

Anyone impacted by these items or needing further clarification may contact either Jim Leighton (Project Inspector) or Bob Bang (Project Engineer) at Shoemaker and Haaland Professional Engineers. 319-351-7150.
